Life can be hard, and even the strongest of us have struggles and challenges. Coming to therapy is an important life decision, and who to choose as a therapist is an equally important decision. I'm Dr. David Feldman, and I am a licensed psychologist in the San Francisco Bay Area, offering video-based teletherapy. I believe in a balanced approach, tailored to your unique needs, drawing from approaches including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based therapy. My work is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, strengths-oriented, and collaborative. Most importantly, I provide a safe space to work on yourself and your goals. Whether you're facing important life decisions, chronic stress, depression, anxiety, grief, or just want to live a fuller life, I have tools that can help.

I'm Dr. David Feldman, and I would be honored to work with you to find hope.
A licensed psychologist (PSY28150) and professor at Santa Clara University, I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 20 years. I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas and completed a fellowship at the VA Palo Alto, a medical center associated with Stanford University. For 18 years as a professor, I've had the honor of training hundreds of future therapists in the skills and techniques crucial to helping individuals and communities thrive. I've also developed and published extensively on Hope Therapy, a set of tools for helping people set goals and find greater satisfaction, meaning, and hope in their lives. This approach has now been used around the world. In addition, I've provided trainings about hope, grief, caregiving, and mental health for organizations like Google, Facebook/Meta, and Kaiser Permanente, among others, and co-authored five books, including Supersurvivors: The Surprising Link Between Suffering & Success (2014), The End-of-Life Handbook: A Compassionate Guide to Connecting with and Caring for a Dying Loved One (2008), and Psychology in 10 Minutes: 30 Quick Reads that May Change Your Life (2023).
